The 1 Star is a clear stepping stone to becoming a paddler and is designed to give you the basic skills needed to get out on flat water and feel safe and confident.
The one star can be taken in any kind of paddlesport craft.
BCU Two Star Training £145 per person inc VAT* + BCU 2 Star Assessment £TBD
An improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding into how the paddle, boat and water interact.

Must be water confident and ideally should be able to swim. This is desirable but not essential. |

Course content |
Basic boat control and rescue skills appropriate to the type of craft you are using. Develop an awareness of your surroundings and what you need to consider before going on the water and while you are on the water. |

You should be able to demonstrate basic boat control and foundation skills. |

Pre- |
Must be water confident and be able to swim 25 metres wearing a Bouyancy Aid. Have experience of paddling 2 different craft e.g. Closed cockpit kayak, sit on top. IN 2 different locations and 2 local competitions OR 2 Journeys of 2 hours+ Preferably already hold the 1 star award |

Competent member of a group, who is self reliant and can support peers on the water in a variety of craft single or double bladed disciplined. |

2 day course (10 Hours) plus a extra half day assessment charged separately |

1 Star Course: 25th/26th May or 11th/12th August
2 Star Course: 28th/29th July or 15th/16th September
*If you have all your own equipment then BCU 1 or 2 will be half price.
